martial arts myth/crap: modern training without conditioning. especially forms.

hello. at the moment im leaning toward martial arts that have seen combat as a preference. im sure things that have seen very harsh competition is good to like muai tai but that is not my background. my background is intermediate taekwondo and also  teacher who was also all over the place. my number one lesson is basic body self expression.

so anyway it looks like forms can teach you things. perhaps this is how they usually did it instead of write it down. anyway i decided to look up taekwondo forms. the basics are not related but it still seems different between schools. that is not the problem since taekwondo came from Korean karate. then it noticed something. one of the lower level forms was using a spear hand. the punches, blocks, kicks, and knife hand to the neck seemed ok but spear hand? well dont you need to condition for that? why condition? to make it effective. also if you use it and strike bone instead of a soft spot you can break your hand. in this case you will break your fingers on the ribs because the target was the solar plex. do i remember any kind of conditioning? not really. unless its the splits. the bags we had where even kind of modern and soft. so why would i want to be learning techniques and never told to condition them? when looking up kung fu you may actually notice that the conditioning is more common knowledge. so when i think of it you may want to condition your fist, fingers, and side of the arm if your in kung fu.

so my current beef with some teaching of martial arts is teaching stuff that needs to be conditioned and you never mention it. also i didnt even know how forms actually taught a lot. it seems like just 1 man practice. so anyway all martial arts are great in their own way but choose what is best for you if your looking to get into it. - eclipse.
