today we talk about the question that was popular since the Gracie family ruled ufc for a time. striking or grappling? well i had a old school teacher that felt you should be dedicated to one type. he was into striking arts so he said attempt to break the lock and stand back up. at the same time he was the one who pointed out that i should put someone on the ground if needed. As a super soldier you may know that tapping out and then attacking the grappler when he relaxes is also a tactic. i can get into logic about how striking is good but we should just know that grappling is pretty much good for only one on one fighting. a pro for bJJ and related is knowing how to get out if your locked up and then you run. i do agree with just training in what is best for you but study the other for a little bit. in my case i would seek out gracie ju jisu and practice for about 6 months to a year. yet in my case i question because of my age and this area lacks the gracie style. anyway here is a self defense instructor and former cop talking about this topic. here it is. https://youtu.be/3_Hy4hz2HVk
